Imperative 38: 17th vision: mega co-ops' electric vehicles manufacturing industries

The Philippines has 4.2 billion metric tons of copper reserves.  Mined and processed, the copper ores may be converted into copper wire of various sizes which may become the major parts of electric motors of all sizes and capacities.  Copper wire and parts likewise form major parts of power generators, transformers, power distribution equipment, electric and electronic gadgets, computers, battery chargers, etc.  All such products may be made thru use of electric furnaces to melt copper concentrates, refine them thru electrolysis equipment, and draw out the resultant ingots into copper wire, or form the ingots (using molds and machine tools) into copper parts for various products. Alloyed with tin or zinc and other metals, copper forms various types of bronze or brass ingots which are raw material bases for thousands of product types.     Development of Philippine hydroelectric and geothermal power resources as described in the previous topics wi...

Imperative 37: 16th vision: mega co-ops' electric-powered steel and alloy mills

Technologies for smelting iron ore and magnetite sand (of which around 10% contain 60 to 66% iron) using electric furnaces are now mature, with joint venture or turnkey plants available for sale in the 1st World.  Such technologies combined with trillion-watt level power from Philippine geothermal and mini hydro sources as described in previous posts can make the Philippines a major producer of basic carbon steel (iron + 2% carbon).  Carbon steel mixed with nickel, chromium and other metals from 1% to 20%, then melted in electric furnaces produce stainless and alloy steels which may be formed by molds, sheet-making machines and machine tools into all manner of machinery parts, sheets, tubes, bars, etc.  Assembled in certain ways, such alloyed parts become factory machines, home appliances, vehicles, ships, heavy equipment, construction steel and all manner of steel-based products.  The technologies applied to the Philippines can transform the coun...

Imperative 36: 15th vision: mega co-ops' joint venture clean mines

Most Philippine mines for extracting iron, nickel, copper, gold, silver and other ores are popularly known to operate with scandalous disregard for the environment.  Their poisonous wastes and tailings get washed off into rivers and sea coasts, killing all life that come into contact with the poisons, including marine creatures within square kilometers of seas.  The mines' land-surface scouring methods carve out thousands of hectares of forested mountains and plains which are never reforested after depletion of their mineral ores.  The mines' local and foreign owners are so powerful and bribe-savvy, many say, that no laws can be passed and implemented that are able to curb the ecology-killing processes.  Mining companies (almost all capitalized by foreigners) have ensured that their representatives, some of them heads of mining clans, are permanently ensconced in Congress to make sure all bills and bureaucratic appointments that endanger mining interest...

Imperative 35: 14th vision: 1st World CSR companies' Philippine geothermal plants

The Philippines has over a hundred geothermal wells, volcanic fumaroles, geothermal vents and hot springs with kilowatt or megawatt potential each.  Technologies for generating electricity out of low-temperature (300 deg.C or so) hot springs and fumaroles already exist in the 1st World.  Groups of twenty or so 1st World CSR companies may thus partner with a geothermal construction company to raise capital and acquire million-dollar loans or investments from the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, climate change Funds, State Aid agencies, CSR companies, etc., towards set up of scores of Philippine geothermal plants all at the same time.      Philippine geothermal plant loans should be charged ultra-low interest and be payable on long-term (15-20 years) for the sake of greenhouse gas reduction. Additionally, geothermal power plants enjoy sure markets and high profitability as they spend next to nothing on fuel, which is the top expense for coal a...

Imperative 34: 13th vision: Filipino expatriate groups' clean and green 'sideline' businesses

Over $25 billion repatriated by expatriate Filipinos each year the past decades indicates one thing: they will never tire of trying to help folks back home.  The amount however appears to be a small percentage of total Filipino expats' and migrants' incomes, indicating a huge capital potential for mega co-ops if such overseas Filipinos get persuaded to  buy mega co-op shares thru relatives or thru mega co-op websites.  Mega co-ops have to find ways by which overseas investors may directly buy capital shares instead of passing thru brokers.  Overseas Filipinos may also capitalize small businesses that engage in production contracting or supply of materials to mega co-ops as a way of providing income for loved ones back home.  Capable and trusted relatives may manage the businesses to acquire specialist skills for further expansion of operations once the expat financier retires and returns to the Philippines with a big 'nest egg'.  The speciali...

Imperative 33 : 1st World CSR companies' joint ventures with ASEAN mega co-ops

How may ASEAN mega co-ops create enormous volumes of products for ASEAN Festival Malls worldwide?  Here's the vision: a) Mega co-ops use political power to acquire land use rights to thousand-hectare denuded plots from State.  Terms: perpetual basis so long as mega co-ops convert the lands into agro-forests for all eternity; b) Mega co-ops build an ASEAN-wide ethanol production industry with sweet sorghum as feedstock; c) Mega co-ops partner with 1st World CSR companies and flex-fuel vehicle manufacturers to set up ASEAN flex fuel vehicles industries; d) Concurrent with the three previous activities, j oint ventures or build-operate-transfer agreements between ASEAN mega co-op consortia and 1st World corporate consortia construct mini hydropower nets, geothermal plants, biogas digesters, solar cell, and wind powered electricity generators in increasing numbers to gradually end the region's dependence on petrochemical-based fuels for industrial and transport ...

Imperative 32: ASEAN Festival Malls should attract buying masses worldwide!

The need for climate change action by all humanity to stave off the 'end of times' requires a mass-based 'green' vision: a) Once mega co-op joint venture groups get set up ASEAN-wide, 1st World partner companies and support organizations   persuade their governments (for the sake of CSR ideals), to identify for lease, strategically located, under-utilized State lands where ASEAN Festival Malls (AFMs) may be located.  Terms may be 50 years renewable or ideally on rent-to-own basis to ensure climate change action getting funded by the malls over centuries; b) Said advocates persuade their governments' 1st World Aid agencies, climate change Funds and CSR companies to buy stocks and bonds issued by the AFMs to help finance construction.  Such investors may thus earn dividends or interest income as well as profits incident to rises in market value of their AFM shares; c) Where no State sites exist, an AFM may purchase a large private vacant land p...
